artistic developments like Cubism, Surrealism and Post-Impressionism still continue to influence todays society now (Ashton ppg). Since most often the naming of movements is done by zealous critics rather than
artists themselves, it is important for us to hear what artists say about themselves and others, and consider the work they are producing within the movement and then weigh that
against the often hasty judgments of critics. The field of real movement in art, or kinetic sculpture has been a rich one
since at least the first part of the twentieth century, and may even be traced back to animated or articulated art of the earliest periods (de Solla Price 11).
This paper discusses many art terms and works to establish the connections between the terms to reconstruct the "flow of modernism" that is art
history, as it is life. Influences: There are seldom singularities in art - there is no one right, and
only one right way to do something. As artists we are only limited by our imaginations. The same is true for from one "ism" or period to another.
There is no dotted art line in our hand, with Impressionism stenciled on it - ripppp - and it is post-Impressionism. Rather art movements, often like the social
movements which they reflect, blend, meld and then pull away from each other and re-create themselves, and repeat the process.
