hold dear and continue to emulate regardless of the time passing. One of those pieces of literature is "Young Goodman Brown," by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Very few writings possess such
a subtle and still obvious message between good and evil. Hawthorne penned the essays without knowing they would be exalted to classic pieces of literature for the forever future. The
message is clear once the top layer is peeled off and the underpinnings are examined. Good versus evil is a way of the world, in the past, the present and
the future. it is filled with internal conflict that we all face at various times in our lives, thereby being a timeless reflector for mankind.
Good versus evil has been portrayed in many ways throughout time. Black Vs white , angel versus the devil and other things have painted pictures in our minds
about who is good and whos not good. We use societal standards as our benchmarks when it comes to believing the quality of each person we encounter . In addition
we use our life experiences to decide what wee believe otherwise to be. In Young Goodman Brown we are faced with a
man , who by all intents and purposes would be classified as a good man by societys standards. This good man has a wife, a wife whom he loves, though
