of what may lie ahead. At this time of crisis, Mr. Thomas Paine and his pamphlet "Common Sense" offers coherence and a perspective on the dilemma that is truly deserving
of that name as his arguments are logical, coherent and, above all, sensible. His writing offers a direction and a sense of unity and understanding that is sorely needed. "Common
Sense," in brief, succeeds at putting a face, a very detailed face, on the notion of an independent land, which offers the promise of enabling all Americans to move forward
towards the goal of freedom, which Mr. Paine shows can only be obtained through pursuing American independence from Great Britain. The next portion of the original paper by J.A.
Rodgers stresses the need for the student to voice his own opinions in drawing on this research while writing his own paper. Even though this revision rewrites much of Ms.
Rodgers tutorial language, the student is required to write his own paper and should follow her sound tutorial advice. Examination
