That direction involves what is commonly referred to as creative capitalism, a form of capitalism that seeks to do good for others while making money. The following paper summarizes and reacts to Making Capitalism More Creative by Bill Gates. Reaction Paper to Creative Capitalism In Bill Gates 2008 Time article Making Capitalism More Creative the author looks at the way in which businesses make money and how many companies, including RED, are moving in new direction that benefits the world. He points out that in the world of capitalism there are many who are left behind, and left impoverished and in need. He also argues that companies, as well as the government, cannot do it alone but perhaps need to work together to make creative capitalism a reality. He argues that, "To make the most of those skills, we need a more creative capitalism: an attempt to stretch the reach of market forces so that more companies can benefit from doing work that makes more people better off" (Gates, 2008). He indicates that there are many companies that are involved in this creative capitalism prospect and notes that, "Today companies like Gap, Hallmark and Dell sell (RED)-branded products and donate a portion of their profits to fight AIDS. (Microsoft recently signed up too.)" (Gates, 2008). He argues that is a very good thing which illustrates how, through capitalism, one can make a difference and how consumers and businesses do good and make gains through such encounters.
