All was fine until Rapunzel made the mistake of asking the enchantress why she was so much heavier than the prince, whereupon the old women realized that the girl was
seeing a man. In a fit of rage she cut off Rapunzels hair and banished her to a desert. When the prince came that night, the enchantress let
down the hair shed cut from Rapunzel and he climbed up. But instead of his love, he found the old woman who gloated and told him that hed lost
Rapunzel forever. He leapt from the tower in despair, but instead of dying, blinded himself. He finally wandered into the desert where Rapunzel was living with their twins
(you thought they were just talking all those nights?); he was so overjoyed to hear her voice that he cried and his eyes healed-and they lived happily ever after. What
does Rapunzel say about women here? In this tale, Rapunzel actually says very little; in fact, we hear her thoughts once, and she only speaks twice. She thinks
to herself that the prince will love her more than "old Dame Gothel" (the enchantress). She asks the woman why shes so heavy: "Tell me, Dame Gothel, how
