his speech is quite uplifting. He begins with a discussion on his diagnosis but his speech is very inspirational, which is why it likely has been very widely circulated. He explains that he is very healthy with the exception of his cancer and then goes on to address the topic of childhood dreams. The book is a more detailed message of what has come from his speech. Pausch (2008) begins the book and discusses what professors hope to convey at what they perceive is their final lecture before they move on. For this author, the final lecture is attached to his imminent demise. What does Pausch (2008) want to tell the world? He explains how he wanted to spend his last moments with his family, but also that he "couldnt let go of the urge to give this last lecture" (Pausch, 2008, p.6). Randy Pausch was a professor and then a crusader for pancreatic cancer. He has lived his life well. He keeps his humor and his spirits even though he knows he is dying. That alone is reason enough to admire this man. As people ponder their fate, most have many fears. Randy Pausch seemingly had no fears at the end of his life. At the end of the infamous lecture, Pausch does say that he believes in karma. He talks about doing things for others and then brings out a birthday cake for his wife and the audience sings. He talks about childhood dreams and claims that if there is a brick wall in front of someone, they will not achieve their dreams. He means this metaphorically.
