the country--questions arise. It is known that information is plentiful, but where does it come from? Who controls the media? Other questions crop up such as whether or not there
is such a thing as global media, a term often spouted but not easily defined, or is the world merely educated by the American mass media industry? The answer is
difficult to discern as it is true that America dominates much of the worlds film making, as well as television and music industries. At the same time, Generation X is
the most culturally diverse group the world has seen in a long time, meaning that as cultures collide, global knowledge will be even more widespread. Americanization of third world
countries--and even Western Europe--is scoffed at. Americans have gotten a bad reputation as they are held responsible for rhetoric that upholds American values such as money and power, while ignoring
other cultural aspects of the districts it invades. Despite that, America is seen by many as a place where freedom reigns and where media is unbiased and the right to
free speech is upheld. The propaganda to come from less liberal nations is not widely seen. Yet, does the limitation of speech by say a Kadafi or a Saddam render
the world unbalanced or unfair? Should media give others a chance to express their views? Although America is a free country, it was not long ago during the McCarthy era
that communists were blacklisted. Because the "global media" leans right, its objectivity is immediately suspect. II. What is Global Media? The term media industries refers to
