endure such prejudice and, therefore, cannot begin to identify or see the need for drastic change. Indeed, if this widespread affront against the quest for racial harmony is ever
to experience an epiphany of tremendous social proportions, critics contend how "...the nation must confront this countrys history of White privilege before there can be reconciliation" (Anonymous, 1998, p. 4).
Feagin (2000) further points out how there is no denying that the very point of white privilege is to project an image of
authority and immunity, which has stood strong against the test of time. Contemporary societies see white privilege as having both large and small implications; some ways that it manifests
itself is by way of lower consumer prices, more lenient criminal treatment and far better handling with regard to service-oriented situations. The authors
definition of race is an unnatural separation of ethnic groups whereby some populations are deemed more socially, politically and economically acceptable than others. Systemic racism, according to Feagin (2000),
represents racial discrimination that permeates every factor of society and every aspect of daily life, a reality spawned from the very individuals who sought to provide life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness to all but those of color: Americas founding fathers. Furthermore, he notes how the vast majority of whites consider racism a reality only infrequently interspersed with
