China. The Georgia plant produces plastic containers; the Pontiac factory is responsible for plastic parts, while plastic fan parts are produced at the factory in China.
The company was founded in 1991 by Dr. Riordan, a professor of chemistry, who had obtained several patents relative to processing polymers into high-tensile strength plastic substrates.
The companys focus was originally R&D and licensing of existing patents, but venture capital was obtained, which ultimately led to expansion. The
companys mission focuses on four points: Quality (through Six Sigma, R&D and ISO 9000 standards); customer relationships (long-term relationships are created and sustained through rigorous quality controls, innovative solutions and
reasonable pricing); employees (a team-oriented working environment and a climate that supports, and communicates with, employees) and the future. The question we
now ask ourselves is whether Riordans sales and marketing, human resources, operations and legal functions can maintain the companys current pace, while preparing it for the future. Sales and Marketing
Existing systems Sales Plan. The sales plan is geared toward helping Riordan reach the $50 million revenue mark. The steps to reaching
this goal include customer information training, needs assessments of accounts and expansion of plan to new customers. Furthermore, Riordan is boosting its marketing mix, by offering customized products when necessary,
keeping pricing at the cost-plus method (except for certain circumstances), promotions offering free products for bulk acquisition and efforts on determining the best distribution methods.
