this, then, it is no wonder that adolescent girls suffer from a wide variety of phobias, self depreciating thoughts, and abject humiliation at their lot in life. Mary Pipher, in
her seminal work, Reviving Ophelia, discusses specific cases of girls that she has come into contact with, their stories, their fears, and offers hope for surviving and revitalizing, recapturing what
has been taken from women for too many years: their voice and their inner wisdom. In constructing his own paper, the student will want to note that the thesis
is stated in the last sentence of the introductory paragraph. This allows for a discussion of the main points, relating to the cases and points that Pipher makes as she
discusses what it is like to be a girl growing up in America. The body of the paper, then should include these elements. For example, Mary Piphers book will
