lower productivity and higher turnover. Despite resistance to change, however, its amazing to note that many companies and management still dont get
it. Senior management, especially, tends to make decisions based more on the bottom line than on how any change will impact employees. Business magazines and academic journals are filled with
case studies about the company that went bankrupt or had serious financial problems simply because it couldnt manage its own change. This
is especially true when it comes to implementing new information systems technology. Typically put in the hands of IT people, systems are developed without regard to the end user. As
a result, the end user finds the system difficult to use and impossible to manipulate. The result of that is more resentment, time wasted in a learning curve and many
times, wasted money as the company tries to adapt its employees to the system, rather than the other way around. Lines et
al (2005) wrote that one thing that becomes eroded in a time of change is trust between employees and management. The reason for this is because, obviously enough, any kind
of organizational change creates high levels of uncertainty -- with the main uncertainty being whether or not the organization can implement the change successfully, and how much change is required
