Earthlings are religious and 2) Examples of behaviors to prove or disprove whether they are religious or not. Defining "Religious" Actually, to define
"religious" we also need to define "religion." And the irony here is that the most comprehensive definition can be attributed to Austin Cline, a secular humanist, who writes about atheism.
He describes religion as 1) a belief in something sacred; 2) a moral code that has a sacred basis; 3) a sense of awe or mystery that is aroused during
ritual and/or in the presence of sacred objects; 4) prayer as a form of communication with a higher power or the supernatural; 5) a general picture of the world as
a whole and the individuals place with in it and 6) a social group bound together by everything mentioned above. We can narrow this down to belief in supernatural beings,
sacred versus profane objects, ritual acts focused on sacred objects and prayer. So if were to answer the question as to whether
Earthlings are religious, wed have to say that yes they are. The problem with Earthlings and religion, however, is that they tend to become extremely dogmatic. In the Middle East,
for example, people are going to war over religious affiliation and nothing more. The same thing could be said in the United States - though people arent physically killing one
another over religion (though some probably would like to), many are convinced that "their" religion is better than everyone elses. This, from where Im standing, tends to make a mockery
