include specific examples if you would like. In my current role as an educator, I have learned the value of continuing education and maintaining a current perspective on existing
research in my field. The greatest limitations a person can impose upon themselves is to believe that he or she knows everything that can be known about a certain
subject. Even historians have changed their minds and reflected differently on events in the past. Researchers in anthropology are always changing their views on the evolution of man
and the development of different hominid species over time. Educational learning, then, is no different and expanding a personal awareness of the progress in education should promote positive change.
From a larger perspective, though, maintaining an interest and awareness of research, emerging theories, educational paradigms and educational and policy shifts are imperative to providing adequate services for children
with disabilities. Specifically, changes in the legal requirements for services, research about the best methods, and links to factors impacting educational focus (culture, family, community) are all linked to
current theories and current research. Over time, changes in these theories and research and their application can have a lasting impact on educational models. One solid example
of the level of change that can occur in a relative short amount of time in education can be seen in paradigmatic shifts in educational design and curriculum based on
