ages a year in that particular month. Other groups, which are perhaps more important than social groups are the ones that are related to the work itself. People end up
in groups dependent upon their particular role in the company. For example, a company may be arranged by departments. In an insurance company, there are generally various departments that co-exist
with different staff. Within each department--such as the legal department, claims department, actuarial department--there are sections that provide various types of information or perform certain functions. Each individual in
a particular department may belong to one or more groups. For instance, a man may work in the statements and statistics section of the Actuarial Department, but in the Canadian
division. Each breakdown renders one a member of a particular group. Finally, an individual contributes to a groups success, both in terms of work groups and social groups at work,
by being what is called a "team player." Getting along with other people goes a long way to further any groups efforts. Further, creativity and a good work ethic can
enhance the value and productivity of each group, no matter what that group happens to be. 2. What group processes and roles have you found to
be most effective in a workplace? An individual in a work environment may find that group processes and roles are quite important in terms of getting things done. What
