harder and the other side argues that no matter how hard we try the war on drugs is futile and we must accept this. There are many issues related to this topic, not the least of which involves racial prejudice. The following paper examines several different flyers/articles, and answers questions posed by the student requesting this paper as it relates to these flyers/articles. Underlying Goal The three flyers first under discussion all have a similar underlying argument, though they are different. The articles are all presented by Kevin B. Zeese and are titled Annual Causes of Death in the U.S., Do Our Drug Laws Focus on the Truly Dangerous Drugs?, and White Kids are Much More Likely to be Using (and Selling) Drugs. The underlying argument is that the war on drugs is perhaps futile for a variety of reasons. The first article illustrates that there are far more dangerous realities that threaten the lives of people than drug use. The second that drinking coffee is as dangerous and as intoxicating as smoking marijuana, and the third that it is generally people of race that are attacked for drug use rather than whites, though it is more often than not whites who are more heavily involved in drugs. All of these flyers point to the truth that drugs and drug use are not presented honestly in the media. Arguments The first flyer on causes of death is very effective in offering simple numbers of deaths due to one thing or another, followed by where the information was cited from.
