person is not struggling to support a family, attitude will be different. Other ways that family can impact the work environment go to health problems and other dependency issues. If
for example a single mother has a medical emergency at home, she may have to leave the job to take her child to the doctor. Too many absences due to
child care issues can affect the longevity of the job. Family obligations do have an impact on work, even though it is often in an indirect manner. 2. In
what ways does this countrys increasingly diverse workplace affect norms, values, and attitudes among people in an organization? The United States of America has become increasingly diverse in terms
of ethnicity and race. This means that no longer is the white man average. Rather, people work with individuals who are affiliated with various religions and to some extent, one
might say that it has affected normative behavior, values and attitudes within the confines of an organization. For example, a firm might have in the past taken a hard line
against absences, but with so many religious holidays amongst various groups, the organization must get used to some employees missing on certain days. Diversity in general promotes tolerance and acceptance.
