in increased knowledge of the rationale behind established protocol. As noted in the lecture, there would be little reason to pursue an advanced degree were it not believed to
make a positive contribution to individuals nursing abilities or careers. There is a possibility that the benefits of an advanced degree are limited
to others perceptions of the benefits of that degree, however. Searching for survey respondents only in the halls of a large hospital is unlikely to produce a study that
can be seen as providing any answer to the research question. Such a search is unlikely to provide many active nurses holding any advanced degree, though it could be
useful for investigating the relationship between practice levels of BSN nurses and those that have not attained that degree level. The possibility of
finding study subjects at a nurse-manager convention or a nurse practitioner conference presents the same kind of complication, but at a higher level. There are few nurse-managers or nurse
