This perspective suggests that content analysis allows for the integration of a variety of diverse approaches that are determined by the use of certain terms of reference and that take into consideration factors that vary from the theoretical framework to reliance on statistical data (Evans and Priest, 1995). While content analysis has been utilized to assess a variety of different types of news and determine the veracity and reliability of the information presented, the application of content analysis has specific complications. Comparative analyses are also another form of qualitative method that has been utilized in recent years. Essentially, comparative analyses integrate a view of the current literature, first integrating existing theories on a subject and then relating the findings of other researchers. One of the criticisms of both of these types of qualitative approaches relates to the issue of accuracy in the comparative view and the link between accuracy and perceptions of objectivity in the presentation of data. Because objectivity suggests the presentation of more than one perspective and the integration of varied data, the use of the objective viewpoint in the development of qualitative methods suggests the balance between differing perspectives. So while content analysis suggests the necessity for objective perspectives in the development of the analytical approach, there more viable perspective would be to determine the link between objectivity and balance and support balance as a component of the process of content analysis.
