What is Burger Kings core competency? How does it relate to its chosen strategy? Burger Kings core competency is, of course, fast food, with its differentiation involving
flame-broiled (versus fried) burgers. This has been the companys differentiation strategy; that, and being able to have a burger the way the customer orders it. Burger Kings flagship sandwich, a
it were, is the Whopper, consisting of a huge slab of beef and fixings. The restaurants also offer a selection of chicken sandwiches, salads and breakfast items, not to mention
side dishes and desserts (McLellan, 2011). It could be said that another BK strategy is "beat McDonalds." This is because Burger King is
the worlds number-two hamburger chain (based on location) behind McDonalds, boasting more than 12,000 restaurants in the United States and 70 other countries (McLellan, 2011).
How would you explain how Burger King has decided to configure and coordinate its value chain? Which of Burger Kings value chain activities create the most
