scale. Understanding that certain life events and major changes can precipitate trauma just by their very nature, Holmes and Rahe composed
their Social Readjustment Rating Scale, which ranked the severity or impact of particular life events. For example, on this scale the death of a spouse was ranked as the highest
in terms of stress levels, major life changes and emotional catastrophe, followed by divorce, marital separation, going to jail, then death of a close family member. Vacations, major holidays and
minor traffic violations were considered low in the life-changing category. The higher the event on the Social Readjustment Rating Scale, the higher
the life stress. 2. What did Homles and Rahe do with the Social Readjustment Rating Scale in order to make sure the items were consistent or that it could be
