is not connected to the society at large. The Federal Bar Association for example is a distinct organization with a chapter in Puerto Rico and it does have a
significant influence on the society. One can say that while the organization keeps a low profile and does not have judicial power for example, it is symbolic of justice. The
purpose of the organization in fact is to make sure that justice is served. Yet, one issue may in fact be the organization has not acted on behalf of injustices
at all times. The death penalty has been a significant issue and while the organization has spoken out on the topic, it has only been marginally successful. Before delving further
into the problem, some information about the organization should be evaluated. The Federal Bar Association is considered to be an exemplary professional association that includes lawyers and judges who
are involved in federal practice ("Federal Bar Association: Puerto Rico Chapter," 2008). The organizations boast more than 16,000 members overall and "it is unequaled in its relationship with
the Federal Judiciary" ("Federal Bar Association: Puerto Rico Chapter," 2008). Puerto Rico just happens to have the third largest office in this national organization ("Federal Bar Association: Puerto Rico Chapter,"
2008). That is quite impressive. It is an award winning office and its considered to be one of the best chapters in the country ("Federal Bar Association: Puerto Rico Chapter,"
2008). The Puerto Rico chapter has been recognized and has been committed to serve members with social activism as well as educational seminars ("Federal Bar Association: Puerto Rico Chapter,"
