effective of those steps is twice yearly retreats hosted by the American Diabetes Association. The intent of this paper is to first explore some background information about diabetes.
This exploration will delineate the number of people that suffer from the condition, the different types of diabetes, and the risk factors associated with it. Then diabetes will be
explored from physiological perspective and treatment options will be outlined. Next, the ADA retreats will be introduced and their program format, and benefits discussed. Finally, constructive recommendations will
