to quantify behavior or aid in the understanding and prediction of behavior" (Kaplan and Saccuzzo, 2008, p. 6). A spelling test, for instance, offers a measurement of how well a
student has learned to spell a specified list of words. A psychological test refers to a "set of items that are designed to measure characteristics of human beings that pertain
to behavior" (Kaplan and Saccuzzo, 2008, p. 6). There are numerous varieties of these tests. Major categories of tests, their uses and users Tests can be categorized according to
the way that they are administered, as there are "individual tests," in which an examiner gives the test to only one individual at a time; and there are also group
tests, which are administered to more than one person at a time by an examiner (Kaplan and Saccuzzo, 2008). Tests are also categorized according to the what sort of behavior
they are measuring. The items on ability tests are "scored in terms of speed, accuracy or both" (Kaplan and Saccuzzo, 2008, p. 7). Achievement tests measure previous learning. Aptitude tests
