of pathological lying (Dike, 2008). Exactly when does regular lying become pathological lying? or How is pathological lying different than compulsive lying? Members of the psychiatric community do agree
on certain elements related to pathological lying. For one thing, pathological liars have a long history of lying when there does not seem to be any benefit to telling the
lie (Dike, 2008). Usually, when a person tells a lie there is a clear motive, such as avoiding punishment or achieving a goal. This is not true with pathological liars.
In fact, the lie could even hurt the person (Dike, 2008). Also, the lie is something that can easily be proven to be false (Dike, 2008). So, pathological lying is
