Generally there are two approaches to the way employees are managed. The scientific management style associated with Frederick Winslow Taylor was responsible for the modern production line,
but it is one that engendered distrust and does not help to create loyalty. The alternative, the human relations school, where there is a good employment relationship and employees are
treated well and feel that they are important, will usually result in a higher level of productivity and greater levels of trust. If Prudential financial want to improve their management
style then it is with consideration of the human relations school and its style that changes are likely to be in line with. Slide 3
To assess the way that the company can improve the main source of information will be the employees themselves and the way they feel about the
management styles in the company. However, when undertaking research of this nature there are often some problems. The company is a large multinational company and has hundreds of employees it
would be very expensive and impractical to even try. Where research takes lace in a company there is also the danger that employees will not want to be honest, they
may fear that giving answers the employer does not like will result in reprisals, of they may simply be unwilling for the employer to know how they feel.
It is important that the questions are carefully phrased to ensure they are clearly understood and lead to clear unambiguous answers, simply asking
