a security manger may embrace. These operate at different levels with different targets. At one end of the scale there is the prevention of fraud, with the reduction of opportunity
and exposure, at the other end of the scale are the tools to detect fraud. There are also divergent targets such as
internal and external fraud. The seriousness of fraud may be seen with many examples, one of the most famous is the failing of bearings Bank as a result of the
fraud of one man. It is worth noting that this fraud was internal and not even undertaken with the aim of personal gain, but to cover up former mistakes. If
this can occur without any desire to harm a company, to benefit and without the awareness of management then the potential is serous. The complexity for fraud necessities the
use of a range of tools as well as both simple and complex security arrangements. While prevention is required there also needs to be some form of detection, as the
most determined fraudster will find a way into the systems, especially if there is the ability to perpetrate the fraud remotely through computer systems.
