Constitution of the United States and thus should never be denied. The following paper presents the pros and cons of gun control in the United States. Pros Those
who feel that gun control should be a national reality "argue that they curb access by criminals, juveniles, and other high-risk individuals. They contend that only federal measures can successfully
reduce the availability of guns" (Gun Control). Such people may well also argue that the only people who should own guns are military personnel and police officers. They argue this
in light of the fact that they believe our modern society has no real need for guns (Taking On Gun Control). In the days when the Constitution claimed we could
gear arms it was a time of "wild animals, hostile" Natives and people everywhere had guns (Taking On Gun Control). It was necessary to have a gun to protect ourselves.
In modern society this is not the case. The pros to gun control, according to those who argue for it, also involve children to a large extent. With the
school shootings that often seem to take place, even on just recently where a young child took a gun to an after school program and shot a classmate, make people
worried about the safety of their own children. If just about anyone can own a gun no one is really safe. They argue that no guns should be allowed for
anyone but, again, the military individuals and the police officers. They may well also argue that if we want a better and more peaceful society we really need to
