An 8 page paper discussing the growth of propaganda in advertising. Most of the complaints of propaganda in advertising address only those campaigns that are blatant in their statements attempting to sway the thinking of consumers. Consumer resistance to such thought-altering attempts is far less than most consumers would care to admit, and the advertisers know it. Edward Bernays and John Dewey were aware of the problem, though for far different reasons. Seventy years in the making, advertising propaganda has come into its own and is no longer limited to traditional advertising methods but also masquerades as new stories and civic-minded corporate responsibility.
