projects and fewer resources, with the greater need for those running projects to multitask (Turner et al, 2008). The additional tools may be seen as bureaucratic, as well as being
less necessary for a short period project. A tool that is likely to be used by a firm is a work breakdown
schedule. The development of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is the core of an project, this is a plan rather than a to do list and the, this looks at
the different tasks that will need to be performed and by whom. This will include allocation of the different jobs to different people of units. The tasks will also need
to be placed in order, on a time table, many of these may appear to have different critical paths. This is a single document that can bring together the different
elements of a project, all of which have different times tables, allowing there to be breakdowns of the various tasks so that all can be outlined and appreciated. For example,
if this is a project for a new supermarket it may include all elements from the hiring of equipment and building of the foundations through to the plans for the
press releases and invitations to the grand opening after it has been built and decorated. This tool is essential for any of
the project, as seen with PMBOK, this even occurs for small projects were it may not be referred to as the WBS, but is still a planning list that performs
