the scope management and the quality management. First Important Knowledge Area Scope management is seen at the beginning of the project; there are three main functions of scope management, these
are to define and communicate the scope and scale of the project, the management of the project so that the potential changes during the project are limited and the mechanism
through which checking of the project will take place. The initial stages of the project need to asses what needs to be undertaken, how it will be performed and
also to exclude elements that may not be necessary. There have been many projects where there are failures as a result of the full scope or scale of the project
either undefined or defined wrongly. If there is no definition and no effective mechanism for measuring work this may lead to many areas of potential failure, from the allocation of
resources, budget failures, over runs and quality issues. This is an area which impacts on many subsequent areas of managing the project and require knowledge from the areas which have
been also identified as separate knowledge areas, as this is requires input from others areas such as knowledge of costing, time, quality and measurement. This is an initiating point and
is errors are made here subsequent processes will have the potential of compounding the errors, conversely, good initial planning will aid with the control and meeting of project goals.
Second Important Knowledge Area Quality management is important, this is a very important element of the project. If a project runs over time, but still has the correct quality there
