for Nutrition Policy and Promotion. It will also be the message of project Jump Start as it begins in a single elementary school in Temecula, California, in the San
Diego School District. Program Design It is the aim of project Jump Start to "teach children the importance of exercise ... [while] learning
healthy eating habits." With the recent redesign of the nutrition pyramid, the federal governments Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) already has provided a sound program based on
research and known facts about the nutritional and exercise needs of growing children. Project Jump Start will use the materials provided at the MyPyramid for Kids website as the
educational basis for the program. An added bonus of using a component of the MyPyramid family of resources is that siblings not directly
involved with the Jump Start program can join in on the nutritional side; parents can choose to use the primary version of MyPyramid Tracker that will retain the information they
enter for up to a full year. Because obesity is a family problem as well as one of society, project Jump Start has the potential for positively affecting each
participants entire family as well as the individual child enrolled in the program. CNPP provides a variety of child-friendly resources targeting children 6
