some make it out to be. Certain sectors are growing and the growth is at least in part attributable to government action. The recession has hurt all nations, not just
the United States and while nations scramble to implement improvements, there has been some progress made. Many countries are doing better than the U.S. and as a result, American businesses
are taking advantage of the trend to boost their own bottom line. Export businesses are doing well in addition to the technology sector ("Stars of the Recession," 2010). High
end manufacturing as well as agriculture and commodities are solid industries, particularly when they are attached to nations like Brazil, China or India ("Stars of the Recession," 2010). Historically, American
export growth was usually in the ballpark of 7 or 8 percent, but now that same figure is in the double digits ("Stars of the Recession," 2010). Why are certain
businesses doing so well even in this negative economy? It is because many more people are entering the middle class each year and they want consumer goods sold by American
companies ("Stars of the Recession," 2010). Other governments are building their infrastructure, and American labor power, products, and know-how can fill some of those needs ("Stars of the Recession," 2010).
The present situation seems to be begging for American goods. One observation made in the context of the Newsweek article is as follows: "China may be the worlds factory, but
it has yet to create an iPad. Innovations of this sort create truly desirable jobs" ("Stars of the Recession," 2010). While it may be true that on some fronts, the
