progress and then discusses it in terms of the discovery of America and the progress in human history. Progress As noted
in the introduction progress is essentially a concept that can be seen from many different perspectives, regarding various topics. However, for the most part it generally denotes a sense of
improvement, of getting better, in relationship to what ever the topic is. Progress is not the worsening of a situation or something that is associated with negative realities, although some
people may satirically refer to the progress of something when they mean it is bad progress. When America was discovered and the
Europeans began to come to America there are many ways in which one could argue that progress did not occur. This is because countless native peoples were decimated, controlled, oppressed,
and killed. This is not realistically something that one could call progress. But, when one looks at the development of the human race in general, the development of the human
race as a species of animals, then one can clearly see that the discovery of America and the colonization of America was progress for humanity.
There is another perspective one can argue for the strength of progress in such a situation as the colonization of the new land and that concerns the
new freedoms offered to the colonists. If one puts aside the fact that ultimately almost all the native peoples in the nation would be destroyed, and focus on the needs
