The gender split is 46.5% male compared to 48.2% in New York and 49.1% in the entire US and 53.5% female compared with 51.8% and 50.09% for New York and the US respectively (ePodunk, 2005). The age profile has 35..3% of the population 15 or under, 15.1% 16 - 24, 30.7% 25-44, 18.8% 45 - 64 and 10% of the population 65 or over. This has a skewing to the younger section of the community when compared to the New York and the rest of the country (ePodunk, 2005). The average age of the population is also younger at 33.27 compared to 36.8 in New York and 36.22 in the US (ePodunk, 2005). The Bronx is also a very mixed area in terms of ethnicity. Only 29.9% of the population are white, this compared to 67.9% ion New York and 75.1% in the US as a whole (ePodunk, 2005). This places the white population in a minatory. The largest ethnic group are the Hispanic and Latino which make up 48.4% of the population compared to only 15.1% for New York and 12.5% in the US (ePodunk, 2005).
