Educational models based on these program types have been utilized to support structural, social and professional gains for a variety of different educational staff, from administrators to classified and
certified personnel. Even though a number of different models exist, the use of corporate models, especially those that can be applied to a variety of different employee types, promotes
specific gains in the development of learning initiatives that correspond with lifelong learning. Over the course of the last decade, the focus in
human resources departments across the nation has turned to the use of continuing education models to support what has been described as the "lifelong learning movement." This movement has
been shaped by the belief that personal growth and development are of significant value and that they define the best route towards creating and maintaining personal success. The lifelong
learning movement is based on the idea that educational development is fundamental to professional advancement, and that all people can benefit from continuing education in support of their personal and
professional development. It has been argued, for example, that "all people in the developed world have a high need to achieve, so in order to motivate them to work
hard, all you need to do is to set stretching goals." But recent studies in motivation in the workplace suggest that simply setting progressive or stretching goals may not
be enough to spark motivation or improve performance. Lifelong learning has been viewed as one way of defining motivation and placing value on individual educational gains, a focus that
