basketball violence breaks out among the players, and among the fans. The painful truth is that violence is a part of sports and it is not only a part of
the professional athletes and the sports, but of the fan base as well. The entire realm of sports is generally very violent in many different ways. There are those who
argue that sports needs to become less violent because professional athletes are role models, but the other side accepts, and perhaps even embraces, the fact that violence and sports go
hand in hand and that violence is actually taught to sports players from an early age. The following paper illustrates how violence is a very big part of sports, subliminally
or obviously, and that the fans themselves are a part of that violence. The paper suggests that sports should be otherwise, but the paper also illustrates how violence is perhaps
too imbedded into sports to be eliminated and that part of the entire role model thing involves a strong and perhaps violent nature. Role Models and Violence
There can be little doubt that professional athletes serve as very influential role models for many people, young and old. From small children who
enjoy playing sports, to adults who love sports and perhaps dream of being a professional athlete, professional athletes serve as very powerful role models for many people. However, this does
not mean that their position as role models is not in existence because of the violence within the sport itself. Sports are generally something that men are predominantly involved
