Manufacturing Manager FROM: Marty Holmann SUBJECT: EREM Hand Cutters
We conducted a trial of several models of EREM ergonomic hand cutters between September 23 and October 20 in advance of replacing the hand cutters currently in
use on the production floor. Fifteen production employees - nine line assemblers and six post solder operators - tested three models of cutters. These employees unanimously agree that
they prefer a single model from this company, the 711E-BH cutter. The reasons they give for their preference include the models comfort, durability
and versatility, as well as the ergonomic design. The workers state that the design and ease of use do make a difference over the course of an entire shift.
The same employees have conducted all of the use testing to date, so all of those unanimously preferring the EREM 711E-BH cutter also
have used the Lindstrom and Utica cutters previously tested. Beyond comfort, the testers report that the EREM 711E-BH cutter is more than capable
of cutting leads between 0.019 inch and 0.050 inch. The cutters recently tested performed very well and showed little wear at the end of the testing period. Many
cutters fail to perform well when being used to cut soldered leads. The EREM 711E-BH performed well at this task, and showed little wear even after being used to
