be applied to other architectural and social perspectives on building that have collapsed or been destroyed in recent years, and as a result, some have considered his perspectives valuable in
the assessment of the World Trade Center collapse on September 11, 2001. In order to apply Procopius views, though, it is necessary to consider some of the perspectives on
the architecture of the World Trade Center and the proposed plans for reconstruction, as they may relate to Procopius eye for detail. The initial construction of the World Trade Center
towers was based in what some consider to be a postmodernist grid construction, one that was based in a kind of modern architecture that was both complex and sometimes tenuous.
Rosalind Rauss described the grid, a component of modern architecture, as "schizophrenic," and further suggested that the grid is a extension of what can be viewed visually, moving from
the immediate and integrating architectural elements into the infinite. Further, Rauss argued that the development of architectural elements along a grid creates both boundaries and a sense of limitlessness,
taking what may appear arbitrary and placing into an architectural perspective that suggests a greater degree of order. "Thus the grid operates from the work of art outward, compelling
