Process control is a critical component of all aspects of chemical engineering. Its specifics range from basic checks and balances that are a basic component
of the scientific method to high-tech computer programming. Process control not only insures the quality of the product, it also insures optimum cost effectiveness and resource utilization.
Perhaps the most visible aspect of process control in chemical engineering is in the hands-on chemistry that characterizes the industry. This aspect of process
control demands careful attention to chemical components as well as to such considerations as volume, weight, temperature, pressure, and other critical parameters. Other critical processes in process control include
diligent monitoring and observation, observations are made and conclusions reached from those observations. This method can be used to solve a number of problems that we encounter in the
industry and to prevent most problems from occurring. The careful investigation and verification of facts is one of the most critical components of process control. In process control
the facts and circumstances of a situation are weighed out and a logical decision is made utilizing those facts and circumstances.
Process control extends to all arms of the chemical engineering process. Consider, for example, the difficulties in production that might result with an inadequate inventory management. As a
