staff and crew, casting, planning processes, the actual production processes, editing, and much more. No single process of making the movie exists in a vacuum and each is some how
connected to another aspect of the overall, end-product movie. A clear understanding of the movie-making processes is an important element of ensuring a successful production (regardless of the overall
quality or success of the actual movie). In order to present an accurate process analysis of making a movie, one applies the same analytical overview that addresses the specific and
how it then fits into the general. In the scientific world of research laboratory, process analysis involves monitoring, controlling and then analyzing various combinations of actions ("processes") to determine what
the results will be. In the business world, process analysis involves understanding how the various components of an enterprise work together in order to meet an organizations goals and objectives.
Both enterprises (science and business) look at the "what is" and then the processes involved in turning it into something else. The same can be said about making a
movie. The "what is" is most often a story, the processes are the processes involved with making it a movie, the final validation of the process is whether or not
the movie worked, how, and in what ways. Making a Movie For those not familiar with how the bits and pieces of a movie are filmed and put together later,
