addressing problems and is moving towards a more restrictive society wherein people may even argue it is a tyranny in many ways. Whatever the ultimate truth, the fact remains that
America is suffering from many different problems, social and political. The following paper examines what Locke, in his Second Treatise, and Rousseau, in his First and Second Discourses, may have
to provide the United States in relationship to answers to problems, and in relationship to setting America on a better path for the future of the nation. Americas
Problems Prior to discussing solutions, or possible solutions, to various problems in the United States the problems must be established and defined. For
the most part the paper will focus on domestic problems, as from there international problems can be better understood and worked out. For example, if the nation was one that
had little problems with poverty and inequality and education, the nation would be in a better position to deal with the rest of the world. In other words, one cannot
fix the problems of the world unless they have no problems of their own. One problem that is quite prevalent in the
United States is poverty. While America is perhaps the wealthiest nation in the world, there are still people who have no homes, and still children who are hungry. This clearly
