to fathom. The victims of sexual predators-if they do not end up dead-are often fearful and psychologically challenged for life. Being raped or abused by sexual predators takes its toll. Although there are consequences if caught, sexual offenders are not given long enough prison terms. It seems that while attention needs to be paid to human rights, until more research is done on etiology, sexual offenders should receive harsher prison sentences. Society has attempt to tame sexual predators through help programs and chemical castration, but it is often the case that rehabilitation is not helpful. Many offenders will kill again as evidenced by the many cases one witnesses on television. That is, when a young child is kidnapped and killed, likely suspects are the registered sexual offenders. Yet, it seems as if sexual predators are more than individuals with a sexual fetish. Rather, they are people who must have some other psychological disturbance that would allow for the death and destruction of their sexual interested. It seems as if the scientists have gotten it wrong because they do not treat sexual predators as ordinary violent criminals. On some level, the focus on this problem is welcome. It has invited laws to help track these miscreants. However, it is often the case that the punishment is not enough. Sexual predators-until more credible research is done-should be kept in prison with life sentences, or at least very long prison terms. It is simply the only way to protect society. II.
