Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 9 page paper examines the types of problems that are likely to occur in multi-project situation which are less likely to be seen where there is only a single project. This includes problems such as competition for resources, clashing priorities, lack of transparency, problems with information flow and bounded rationality. The bibliography cites 8 sources.

and the path identified where any delays will delay the project as a whole. In a single project environment this is a fairly simple process, there may be many tasks
from different parties, but the process has a single final aim. However, in todays commercial environmental there are often programmes that are made up of many projects, or many divergent
projects may be occurring concurrently, this can create some problems that would not otherwise emerge in non multi project environments. Where there are multiple projects ongoing there are numerous
complex uncertainties which may include practical problems such as competing needs for resources, changing priorities and limited time as well as the interaction of these influences between the projects on
each other. These influences and problems can all have a multiplier effect. There are also more human problems such as issues of bounded rationality. New models have been developed
in order to deal with these such as Critical Chain Project Management developed by Golratt (1997) and is now used by companies such as DaimlerChrysler, NASA and Lucent as
well as tools such as dependence structure matrices (Danilovic and Sandkull, 2005). In a situation where there are several projects or multiple projects, related or unrelated there are many
issues. One of the problems is with the way staff are shuffled bout the projects. In a company it is common to find employees moved between the different projects or
trying to work on them at the same time (Fricke and Shenhar, 2000). This can cause confusion and delays as juggling takes place, it is also an area where few
studies have concentrated on (Fricke and Shenhar, 2000). If we also consider the way that many projects well be a different stages of their lifecycle and taken on in an
