The problem faced by many firms is knowing how to prepare for change. There appears to be a theoretical acceptance that the companies will need to change in order to compete in the changing environment, even those firms that do not want to expand internationally are likely to accept this fact as they will be facing increasing competition in their own country. But firms may not know how to determine the strategies they may adopt internally in order to create an organizational culture that is ready for change. The problem statement looks directly towards this issue, using the concept of learning organizations as a model that is highly associated with the ability to learn and adapt. While embracing a learning organization strategy may facilitate some readiness for change, the concept is much broader, so Kuwaiti firms may benefit from a much more targeted approach in order to find which characteristics and therefore which strategies are best pursued to create an organization that is ready for change. Slide 2 The problem is broken down into the different elements that will need to be achieved in order to identify the research objectives.
