Drosnin created a short but intense stir when he published The Bible Code in 1997. According to Drosnin, the ancient Hebrew Bible contains thousands of hidden messages, messages we
could have seen much earlier had we bothered to look - and had access to computers to ease the search. Drosnin found the name of Yitzhak Rabin by taking
every 4,773rd letter beginning with "Y" (Thomas). The point is that anyone can find anything they please if they hold enough bias and
they can ignore all of the evidence to the contrary. Such is often the case with those claiming that the United States had full knowledge of the attacks of
September 11 well in advance of their occurrence. The Alternative View McKay (1997) illustrated the "find whatever you seek" approach to "predictions" in
old texts. Using a text not as old as the Bible, McKay (1997) reports that the names of several world leaders can be found using Drosnins method, but using
Moby Dick as the text rather than the Bible. One author states that "a growing mountain of evidence suggests that the hijackings not
only were imaginable, they also were foreshadowed" (Ahmed). Then- Secretary of State Colin Powell stated after the fact that there were a "lot of signs" throughout the summer preceding
9-11 that terrorists were planning large-scale attacks on the United States. One of those signs was intercepted bragging by al-Qaeda that there was a Hiroshima looming in the short-range
