She was adored and idolized. Women aspired to look like her, dress like her and tried to emulate her devotion to causes. One is used to seeing the Princess in
slacks walking in mine fields, not afraid to dress down for a cause. Yet, pictures are sought of the woman dressed to go out. Everyone wants to know what she
wore, where she went and who she was with. It has been suggested that this was the cause of her demise, the Papparazzi fulfilling the desires of a voyeuristic public.
The incident which left her gasping for her last breaths of life happened in a Paris tunnel after photographers chased her vehicle as she and her new boyfriend, Dodi
Al Fayed, began a night out on the town (Montoblano A1). While the media announced that the crash sent Diana to the hospital, the seriousness of her condition was not
known. It came as a shock to all when the sad news was broadcasted. She died of a collapsed left lung, head injuries and cardiac arrest (A1). This touched
everyone, but particularly young mothers who suddenly got a glimpse of their own mortality. If it could happen to a Princess, it could happen to anyone. The news was very
sad. Elton John rewrote Candle in the Wind for Diana, one of her favorites, and played it at her funeral. This version was mass produced on CDs and quickly
marketed. Not only was the new hit a commercial success, but shortly after Dianas death, a great deal of "Princess Di" paraphernalia was marketed. Many vendors were criticized for being
