Black holes are believed to be a region of space which was created by the gravitational collapse of matter. These
holes are characterized by a gravitational force from which nothing, not matter, light, nor communication can escape. Matter and radiation can fall into the hole, indeed be captured by
the hole, but nothing can ever emerge form the hole. This is extremely interesting from the perspective that everything which occurs within a black hole does so in complete
assurance of the absence of any interrelationship with events occurring elsewhere in the universe. Scientist now commonly accept the existence of
many small black holes which were no larger in size than a grain of sand but they still argue the improbability of more massive holes. They believe that the
extremely small black holes were created at the beginning of the universe but they have difficulty accounting for the more massive holes which are speculated to exist. Although the
concept of black holes and their existence is still controversial, these holes are now often thought to be a very real phenomena of nature and have revolutionary impact to astronomy,
the theories regarding the creation of the universe, as well as other facets of contemporary thought. According to astronomers, we see only one
a very small percentage of the mass of the universe (Powell PG). Our knowledge of distant stars, interstellar formations, and black holes is limited primarily to what we can
see through the lenses of high-tech telescopes and cameras (Powell PG). The concept of a black hole is even more difficult to visualize. Lane (PG) observes that the:
