following paper examines two articles that pertain to prime time television. Prime Time Television The first article to be examined involves parents and their concern over prime time
television, a time to watch television that many families believe should be more family oriented. The article discusses how one organization has worked hard to compile information about television programs
so that parents can make more informed choices about what their families, and perhaps especially children, are watching. The author notes, "The Family Guide to TV is the culmination of
thousands of hours of content analysis conducted by the Parents Television Council. Teams of researchers have scrutinized closely every prime time sitcom and drama series for offensive subject matter, employing
the PTCs state-of-the-art computerized Entertainment Tracking System to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date analysis of every show" (Parents TV, 2008).
Many people are concerned with the content in prime time television, especially when watching it with their children. For example, they may think a particular show is appropriate and
then while watching there may be scenes that are not appropriate. There are ratings at the beginning of most shows so that parents get an idea of what is going
on. But, for the most part families are essentially in the blind about what may pop up on the television screen. There are perhaps groups in society that are struggling
to get many television shows off the air during prime time, while others simply argue that parents should inform themselves and they always have the choice of turning the television
