(Angelini et al, 2997, p. 14). College students represent a disproportionately large population of people who abuse alcohol (Westmaas et al, 200&; Ham et al, 2003; Sharma, 2005).
Carey et al (2007) studied the issues associated with preventing college students from abusing alcohol, finding that intervention not only reduced the use of alcohol but also proved particularly valuable
in bringing down the number of alcohol-related problems student incurred over a longer period of time. Those in the study who received interventions were involved in one-on-one, in person.
