bacteria may become attached. The CA stands for the fact that this can be a "community associated " problem. Generally, MRSA is found in hospitals and people are used to
taking precautions to avoid it. At least, the professional who are subject to the bacteria know what they are up against, and it is something that is expected. It is
thought to be the cost of doing business in the medical fields. However, ordinary and healthy people have contracted this bacteria, something that has created problems in public health. How
can such a bacteria be controlled? What can be done to prevent outbreaks? In finding solutions to the problem of MRSA, it pays to look at particular cases of CA-MRSA
and what resulted from the exposures. CA-MRSA seems to have occurred more frequently in sports teams for example. The CDC reports that it has affected wrestling and football teams
in particular (McCarthy, 2003). The bacteria has also been found in rural areas and in some prisons (McCarthy, 2003). Enclosed places with high populations are regions where MRSA seems to
flourish. This is true of a number of bacteria and viruses. It is important to define MRSA and explore its characteristics. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus or MRSA is a
bacteria that tends to be resistant to some antibiotics ("Healthcare-Associated Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus," 2006). Methicillin, oxacillin, amoxicillin and penicillin are some of the resistant antibiotics ("Healthcare-Associated Methicillin
Resistant Staphylococcus aureus," 2006). Staph infections do include MRSA and these actually occur more often amongst people who work or are confined to healthcare and hospitals
or have weak immune systems ("Healthcare-Associated Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus," 2006). Those who get these infections but have not been in contact with health care facilities are known to have
